Embracing your brace means transforming frustration into enthusiasm. It means adjusting and learning to live with a new part of your life. It means confidence, in yourself and in your brace.

Having a scoliosis back brace can be taxing, both physically and mentally. They can be the source of anxiety, frustration, and anger.

I despised my brace for a while; it seemed to be the cause of all my annoyances. I was frustrated, self-conscious, uncomfortable, and in pain. But one night, I was venting to my friend about how much it was bringing me down and she told me to embrace my brace. She went on, encouraging me throughout the night, but those three words stuck in my head. From then on I decided to stop rejecting my back brace, and rather, embrace it. I refused to let it get the better of me.
