I despised my brace for a while; it seemed to be the cause of all my annoyances. I was frustrated, self-conscious, uncomfortable, and in pain. But one night, I was venting to my friend about how much it was bringing me down and she told me to “embrace my brace“. She went on, encouraging me throughout the night, but those three words stuck in my head. From then on I decided to stop rejecting my back brace, and rather, embrace it. I refused to let it get the better of me.
